Anonymous

Jim and Michelle Duggar who are the proud parents of 18 children and also have one on the way, welcomed into their big, huge family their very first grandchild named Mackynzie Renee Duggar who weighed 8 pounds and is 19 1/2 inches in height.

She is the daughter of Josh Duggar, the eldest of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s 18 children and his wife Anna, who got married on Sept. 26, 2008, at the Buford Grove Baptist Church in Hilliard, Fla., after meeting at a home-schoolers’ conference in 2006.

Anna Keller Duggar had learned that she was pregnant on Feb. 2 and she was completely over-joyed.

“Josh was excited to participate in the birth as well,” said a family friend. “They are both so happy.”

“I ask Anna what she needs,” Josh told PEOPLE in July. “I talk to the baby and we involve her in our conversations. When Anna and I are talking to each other, we’ll say, ‘So, how do you like that, Mackynzie?’ ”

According to TV reports, Mackynzie Duggar’s birth will be featured on TLC’s 18 Kids and Counting special “First Grandduggar,” airing Tuesday, October 13, at 9 p.m.

“We are so thrilled and so excited for Josh and Anna,” said Michelle Duggar, who held her youngest daughter, 4-month-old Jordyn, on her knee. She said that when she was growing up, she had nieces and nephews her own age, so it wouldn’t be strange to have a grandchild almost the same age as her own child.

Donkeys pose as zebras in a Gaza zoo

Anonymous

There were two crowd-pulling zebras in the Marah Land Zoo, who unfortunately died of hunger. Since they were one of the main attractions of the zoo, which boasts of a dozen animals, so the zookeepers were very concerned, about how to go about it. They also didn’t have any money to replace the dead animals, but what they had was creativity.

So they dyed 2 donkeys with stripes to make them look like zebras.

One local man was quoted by The Associated Press as saying that since his three kids had never seen real zebras before, they enjoyed the Gaza version; basically, they didn’t know the difference.

Nidal Barghouthi, whose father owns the Marah Land zoo, said the two female donkeys were striped using masking tape and women’s hair dye, applied with a paintbrush.

“The first time we used paint but it didn’t look good,” he said. “The children don’t know so they call them zebras and they are happy to see something new.”

A genuine zebra would have broken the back to bring into Israel-blockaded Gaza via smuggling tunnels under the border with Egypt, said owner Mohammed Bargouthi. “It would have cost me $40,000 to get a real one.”

As long as the children are coming in, after paying the zoo’s entrance fees, which brings in the revenue to watch the donkeys posing as zebras, nobody is complaining.

Jeb Bush praises Barack Obama on his education reforms

Anonymous

Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush praised President Obama whole-heartedly for his education reforms.

Barack ObamaPresident Barack Obama is supporting merit pay, which would radically change the pay structure teachers, as their salaries would be based on their students’ test scores. This has reportedly upset the teacher’s unions a lot.

Obama has also called for a longer school year, while teachers’ unions on the other hand have proposed shorter school weeks to prevent layoffs. I am very, very encouraged, and excited that the president has taken on a core constituency of his party, which is the teachers union,” Bush said on MSNBC’s Morning Joe.

Bush said that the administration had shown support for greater accountability, data-driven decision-making, more charter schools and improvements in teacher effectiveness and efficiency too.

”The Obama administration, to their credit seem, to be very supportive of these things,” Bush said. “I have to admit I’m pleasantly surprised.”
